Somewhere between mid-day and sun-high, and the lean, gray tom was currently stretching his legs, keen green eyes scanning his clan members as he walked. It a time of peace, and not cause for much terror or strife. The Clans were peaceful, well, aside from the more ancient of struggles, and it new-leaf. As a soft breeze swept over the moor, Eveningstar lifted his muzzle higher, to catch any scent coming his way. The dawn patrol had left earlier this morning, and he was simply waiting for their return. The hunting patrol was also due for return shortly, and he was rather keen to see what had been caught, as well as hear about any news that needed to be known. Turning back towards his sleeping spot, he, like his warriors, preferred the stars to a den.
Sitting down, the gray tom let out a soft purr. There is nothing more wonderful than a early new-leaf morning. Turning his head to the side, the gray leader licked his unusually long fur, grooming in the early morning. Though it was not part of the warrior code, as a general rule, he preferred to wait until the elder members of his Clan, as well as the queens, had been fed. The apprentices, the warriors, the elders and queens, it was all in harmony again. Leaf-bare had been hard on all the Clans, but it was to be expected. It had been no harder than other leaf-bares before it, though it seemed, the older he got, the more long and difficult these cold seasons seemed to grow.
Eveningstar, wasn't an exceptionally old cat, but he was no green warrior either. He knew that things couldn't last, and most likely, would not last, regardless of how the cats desired it. With one last lick to his paw, the tom drew over it his ear one last time before resuming his vigil for the patrols to return. Oddly enough, no matter what he told himself, a settling in his gut made him wary, it felt as if something wrong were on the horizon. [/blockquote]

As Dapplefur padded over to him, he dipped his head in welcoming. Dapplefur, he had to admit, was a quite pretty she-cat. Her personality was quite a gentle cat, and was on good terms with most of her Clan-mates. As she padded over, he meowed a quiet greeting, " To you as well, Dapplefur." He didn't know the she-cat too well, but he knew enough about her, to say that he would trust her with just about anything. Just like most of the cats in his Clan. His Clan. How long now, had he been a leader? Almost twenty moons, as it was, and how it seemed only yesterday that he received his nine lives.
He had tried to lead with the wisdom that he had acquired, but mistakes had happened still. And would still happen, he feared. As he looked at the warrior near him, he realized that he most likely would find it hard to let StarClan take any of his cats. It was a wild feeling, possessive, demanding, angry. These were his cats, and this Clan was his Clan. The feeling of worry had been growing in his mind for moons now. With a dismissive twitch of one ear, he dismissed the idea. No, he'd been carrying this subtle stress for moons longer than what he'd thought. The quiet tension among the Clans, seeming to grow still, was making his own manners deteriorate. With a sigh, he mentally shook himself. He couldn't let himself be brought down by such thoughts.
Turning to his companion, her mouse making his mouth water, he meowed, an apologetic glint in pale green eyes, "I'm sorry, Dapplefur, I don't mean to brood with such company here. How are you?" The words were gentle and the tone sincere, but still, his mind pondered. Enough, was enough, and soon enough a storm would break.

Sparrowheart padded over to his friend Dapplefur. He smiled at the pretty she-cat, his brown eyes welcoming. "How have you been?" He asked her.

Slyheart padded up to the group of his fellow clan members, wondering what all the comotion was about. Sitting down he started to lick his fur, which was sticking out crazily, trying to get it back to some semblance of normal. Not having any effect he just hoped his clan mates wouldn't notice. "Well, that one backfired on me..." he mewed happily adding while slightly bowing to Eveningstar, "Ello everyone. What I miss?"

Fawnheart padded back into Windclan camp with a mouthful of fresh prey. She rather enjoyed hunting early in the morning. It gave her something to do that didn't include just walking around the territory like the border patrols did. Newleaf was coming as well as the feel of the warmer breeze on her pelt made her feel so much better now that the cold icy winds of leafbare were gone. She strolled across the camp clearing and camp to the fresh kill pile where she dropped the three pieces of prey she had caught that morning. She then caught sight of Slyheart, Eveningstar, Sparrowheart and Dapplefur nearby and headed in their direction. "Hello." She mewed plainly, her striped tan fur shining in the bright sunlight. Seeing the pretty she-cat Fawnheart, Slyheart gave another futile try to get his fur to lay down but the pine sap worked into it refused to cooperate. Turning to face her he rambled, "Why hello Fawnheart. How are you? Me, I'm fine. What's up with my fur? Just got some pine sap in it. I'll have to go for a swim I suppose.."

Fawnheart chuckled softly to herself as she turned her head to look at Slyheart. Her golden brown gaze then turned to look at his fur that was sticking up in all directions, in one spot in particular. "Here, let me help you." She mewed before moving so she was near the pine sap. Fawnheart begn to groom his ruffled fur, biting at the pine sap until every little bit of it was out of his fur. When she was finished removing it, she licked his fur to make it lay flat again before stepping back and smiling at him. "There you go, I think I got it all out now." She mewed softly, her golden brown eyes shining.

"Thank you Fawnheart. It seems that joke really blew up in my face, I'll get them next time though," Slyheart replied, gazing upon Fawnheart sweetly. Flicking his tail, deep in thought, Slyheart tried to watch the proceedings of the other cats. His mind, however, kept coming back to the pretty she-cat next to him. Fawnheart had always been nice to him and that was the central reason that Slyheart harbored a secret crush on the she-cat, turning into a variable blabbering idiot around her.

Fawnheart laughed at Slyheart's reply before sitting down next to him and turning back to the other cats that were in front of them speaking. However she couldn't help but catch herself glancing over at Slyheart every once in awhile. What was up with her today? She was acting like a little love struck apprentice. She was the deputy of Windclan, she couldn't become distracted by tom cats. She shook her head to clear her thoughts. But still, as she pricked her ears towards the conversation in front of her, her small tan ears kept tilted to the side a little, hoping that Slyheart would speak to her again.

Lightfoot sluggishly crawled out of his den, stretching his entire body before he took another step. He sat down, scanning the clan's camp. His eye was caught by the fresh-kill pile, already filled by the morning hunting patrols. His mouth watered and he had a great desire to fetch himself a nice, plump mouse, but he knew that he had to go hunting to feed the clan before he culd think about his own stomach. He saw Eveningstar, Dapplefur, Sparrowheart, Slyheart and Fawnheart all sitting in a group, chatting about different things between themselves. He streched again and let out an enormous yawn, then padded over to the group, taking a seat next to Dapplefur.
"Morning ladies, gentlemen. How are you all?" He asked smoothly. After asking his question, he turned to Eveningstar, and spoke with a more formal voice.
"Sorry I slept late, nightly guard duty is a bit more tireing than I remembered it being."
He looked over to Fawnheart and Slyheart, seeign the two of them acting like completle fools around eachother. He smiled and looked down, for the cats who watched the two closley could tell what they thought of eachother. Fawnheart was pretty, nice and funny, Lightfoot would give her that but he didn't want to think of her as anymore than a godd friend. If he could stay close to her, he woudl be happy.

Fawnheart turned her attention to Lightfoot when he came up next to them and spoke to everyone. She smiled broadly at him before playfully batting him in the ear. "What's the matter, you aren't tom enough to handle the night guard duty?" She purred teasingly. Her pale golden eyes were filled with amusement as she saw that he had just woken up. He could go on the next hunting patrol she was going to be taking out in a few moments. He needed to work for his breakfast anyways. "You're just in time to go on the next hunting patrol with me." She added as she pressed her shoulder up against Lightfoot's side playfully before sitting back down in between Slyheart and Lightfoot.

Lightfoot chuckled and growled to her playfully.
"Well who knows, maybe I'm not anymore." He said jokingly.
He returned her friendly ear-bat with a quick lick on top of her head. Then he put on a fake annoyed expersion, and mimiced a lazy apprentice.
"Aww, Fawnheart, do I have to?"
Then he chuckled again, agusting his voice again so it was normal Lightfoot sounding.
"Naww, just kiddin' of course, it'd do me good to go work for my breakfast. To much rabbit and not enough running is hard on the belly, you know."

Fawnheart purred in laughter before shaking her head in mock annoyance. Her golden eyes gaze over at him once more before looking back up to the other group of cats that were talking amongst themselves. When she realized that she was no longer needed in their conversation, she rose to her paws and shook out her golden tabby fur. "Ready to go Lightfoot? We better get going before it gets to be sunhigh." She mewed as she began to head towards the entrance of the camp. She glanced over her shoulder to see if Lightfoot was following her before shifting her gaze over to Slyheart. She smiled at him. "See ya later Slyheart." She mewed before disappearing out of the camp entrance.

Lightfoot smiled, happy that he could still make her laugh. He talked to some of the other cats in the groupuntil Fawnheart got up to leave, asking if he was ready to go. He got up, stretched yet again, and began to trot after her. He cuaght up to her and then went at the pace she was going. But when she said goodbye to Slyheart, he smiled slightly. Then he looked to her and back at him, and chuckled a bit. He shook his head and kept walking, hopign that Fawnheart wouldn't ask what it was that had amused him.
