Early Dawn Patrol

ooc|| Cats on Patrol: Poppystar, Nightjade, Ghoststep, Foxpaw, Nightflower

The dark young deputy smiled at Foxpaw. "Can you please get Nightflower for me, Foxpaw?" She asked. Turning to Poppystar, she meowed, "I think we should go when Nightflower's back, if that's okay with you."

Nightflower felt the blood-lust running through her veins, knowing she must sate it before it turned to blood-rage she stalked through the shadows on silent paws looking for prey or anything needing to be dispatched. As a scent wafted past her nose, Nightflower open her mouth to identify the creature. A mole, her mind told her. Stepping slowly, knowing moles have great hearing and sense of smell to make up for lack of sight, Nightflower jumped on the poor creature. Raking her claws along it's already dead flesh and clawing out eyes, Nightflower desiccated her meal before swallowing it.

Foxpaw sighed before reluctantly running off in the direction Nightflower had headed. He easily found her, picking up her scent right away. He stopped when he saw her devouring a mole she had overkilled.
"Come on Nightflower, time for the patrol." He called to her before quickly spinning back around and taking off back towards the camp.
He was eager to go on the patrol with all the warriors and he didn't want to waste time by talking to Nightflower. Not like Nightflower would actually talk to him. She always ended up hitting him for saying something stupid or doing something stupid. But oh well, that was Nightflower.
When Foxpaw returned to the camp he sprinted up to the other cats that were assembling for the patrol, he could barely hold in his excitement or energy.

Nightjade smiled at her leader. "That's a good plan," She mewed. "Shall we go, now?" She glanced towards the fresh-kill pile. It was smaller than usual, so she resolved to catch more prey than she normally did to help feed her Clan.

The sun was gradually getting closer to its apex. The slender she-cat noted the change, and looked around to make sure everyone was present. Foxpaw was shifting with excitement, and the others seemed to be ready. Nightjade padded closer to her friend Nightflower, and asked, "Do you think we'll scent the fox this morning?"

Nightflower shrugged, "I hope so but I really have no idea. I know I didn't scent it when I was out hunting. I need to find it though...it's time for my problem to act up again and I need to lessen the pull," she replied knowing Nightjade would understand that the blood-rage was bothering her.

I hope we catch some good prey this time." She led the patrol through the territory, stopping when she saw a large snake resting near a tall pine. She motioned to the others, and after a few moments, the snake was hanging, dead, in Nightjade's mouth. They were getting deeper into the forest, and the thick cover of trees made it quite dark even though it was the morning. Nightjade's eyes shone like two emeralds in the dense blackness. She watched as several others made their kills, and then turned to her leader. "Do we mark the borders now? Foxpaw trotted up to Poppystar's side and glanced around excitedly, his big golden brown eyes taking in every motion and every sound of the forest. He was going to be the best warrior ever so he had to learn this forest like the back of his paw.
He continued to raise his nose to the air as he wanted to be the one to scent the fox. Though he wasn't completely sure what a fox smelled like, despite being named after them, he pressed on, deeper into the undergrowth until his nose caught a strange scent.
He stopped dead in his tracks and took a minute to take it in once more. When he couldn't think of anything familiar that it smelled like, he turned back to the patrol and called to them.
"Hey guys, I think I smell the fox!" He called over his shoulder before turning back and concentrating on the scent once more.

ooc: We will go ahead and have the fox scented in Shadowclan territory now too.

"Let's just hope it's in another Clan's territory and not ours," She mewed. But even as she said those hopeful words, the black she-cat felt a sense of foreboding. Yes, but I'd bet anything it's not. The sable deputy looked around and sniffed the air. Sure enough, the musky scent of fox was fresh in the air. Nightjade sighed, and padded over to where Poppystar was marking the southern border. Starting to mark that border, Nightjade meowed, "Do you think it's more likely the fox will be on our territory or another Clan's?" word count; 105 music; violet hill - coldplay notes; where's eclipse? :3
